2016 hat sich Monika Heinz in Wuppertal mit einigen gleichgesinnten Menschen zusammen gesetzt, um mit ihnen auf einem verwaisten Restbauernhof den gemeinnützigen Verein “Permakulturhof Vorm Eichholz e.V.” zu gründen. Heute finden dort interessierte Menschen die Möglichkeit zu lernen aund auszuprobieren, wie sie gemeinschaftlich ihre Stadt wieder „grüner und essbarer“ und damit „lebenswerter“ gestalten können.
Im Laufe der Jahre wurde das marode Haus renoviert, das Gelände aufgeräumt und Brachflächen urbar gemacht.
Inzwischen gibt es ein Rundhochbet aus Dachpfannen, ein Mandalabeet, Sonnenfallen sowie Bewässerungsgräben und andere von der Permakultur angeregte Elemente. Firmen waren zu “social days” da, und der Fernsehsender arte hat eine vierteilige Dokumentation ausgestrahlt. Auch dadurch hat der Permakulturhof an Strahlkraft gewonnen, inspiriert mittlerweile Besucher aus einem weiten Umkreis, und leuchtet so auch über Wuppertals Grenzen hinaus.
Nadja Hildebrand erhält mit ihrem Verein “Bergische Gartenarche im Wupperviereck” alte Bauerngartenpflanzen aus dem Bergischen Land, also Gemüse, Kräuter und Blumen, die dort seit mindestens 50 Jahren leben.
